Everything was fantastic and we were all feeling fine when we were finished. We started with smoked kielbasa which was very tasty and a salad which was odd arugula, rye cracker, asparagus, Austrian prosciutto, burata, and pickled strawberries. We loved it so much while we lived in NC that we came again on our short visit from FL! But in all seriousness, one of the BEST restaurants in Raleigh that consistently performs at a high level and never disappoints. Others at my table fared much better with their orders.

I found the dishes I ordered to be overpriced. I am not an expert on authenticity but I always find the dishes creative and delicious. They get the whole picture. Overall it was ok, I do not think we would return for another meal there. I've definitely had way worse and way better. The name itself is mash-up of family names: Perhaps Rose will fill his shoes as chef. Needless to say we didn't leave any room for desert, but we will be back. Others at my table fared much better with their orders. We had 2 apps and shared an entree. And the people, you know, I always enjoyed the people. He worked in a number of other establishments over the years, and would later go on to help Andrea Reusing with the opening of Lantern. The service was outstanding throughout the meal. The schnitzel needed seasoning; the cucumbers and and German potato salad were overly seasoned, having to my taste too much vinegar. The restaurant employs about 16 employees, both full and part time, and several of them have been with him since opening. He cites 18 Seaboard executive chef Jason Smith as an example. I was disappointed that there was not much of a 'German' atmosphere. Food was good, but felt the servers hovering all the time to snatch plates until it came time for the check and then took forever to flag our server down. We had glasses of Kolsch and Sauvignon Blanc to start the feast. Without intending to, I could eavesdrop on several conversations around me. 1. Tonight was no exception. That was fine, I understand the need, but the conversation ended with the lady on the other end saying 'your table is reserved for 7 pm' clearly implying that we better rush through our meal.

  2. The perogie appetizer had 3 perogies-weird for 2 people All through the meal the noise level was so extreme that it was necessary to shout to be heard across the table.
